Westville, Ind. – It took 10 innings and a game-winning hit from Zach Scipione, but the Judson University Eagles battled through and claimed a spot in the 2008 NAIA Region VII Baseball Tournament after defeating Purdue University North Central, 12-11, in the championship game of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference 3rd-6th Place Tournament. The win advances Judson to the Region VII Tournament for the first time in school history and pits the Eagles against St. Ambrose University, Iowa (31-10) May 6 at Silver Cross Field in Joliet, Ill.
Judson was down 11-10 heading into the bottom of the 10th inning when it rallied to claim the win. Scipione brought home the game-winning run with a single.
This game was the elimination game as Judson fell to PNC on Friday. Judson finishes the tournament with a 3-1 record with a win over Olivet Nazarene and two wins over Purdue-North Central.
Judson is now 17-23 on the season.
