Baseball Weekly Accolades Claimed By ONU's Seaton, SAU's Bird

CHICAGO --- A healthy .583 batting average from Olivet Nazarene University's Alex Seaton (Delavan, Ill.) and a shutout tossed by St. Ambrose University's Connor Bird (Tinley Park, Ill.) have earned the pair Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week accord, respectively, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday morning.

Seaton hit safely in each of his three games played to the tune of seven hits in 12 at-bats with three runs batted in and another four scored.  He also collected two walks for a .706 on-base percentage and a pair of extra-base hits for a .917 slugging percentage.

The sophomore infielder's top performance came in the second game of a doubleheader with Culver-Stockton College (Mo.) on Friday.  In that 12-11 win for the Tigers, he went 4-for-6 with a double, home run and two runs batted in.

Seaton added another two hits in three at-bats with one RBI on Saturday in an 8-5 setback to Culver-Stockton. 

Olivet Nazarene went 2-1 over the weekend and is 4-10 on the campaign.

Bird needed just 78 pitches to toss his seven-inning shutout in a 5-0 decision over Bethel College (Tenn.) on Friday.  He allowed only three hits and two walks against four strikeouts.

St. Ambrose went 2-3 on the week and is now 5-7 overall.
