SAU's Guzman, SXU's Violett Notch Final Baseball Weekly Awards For 2026
CHICAGO --- St. Ambrose University's Dominic Guzman (Crystal Lake, Ill.) and Saint Xavier University's Parker Violett (Maple Park, Ill.) claimed the final set of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly baseball honors when they were announced on Thursday morning by the league office.
For Guzman, it marked his third time capturing CCAC Pitcher of the Week accord. The senior struck out 13 batters in an 11-0 complete-game victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph on Saturday.
The only batter to reach base off Guzman in the seven-inning affair came on a single to lead off the fourth inning.
The win helped secure the CCAC regular-season title for the Fighting Bees, who enter the league tournament at 29-19 overall. In conference play, they went 24-8.
Violett, meanwhile, did a little bit of everything during the seven-day period ending April 26 to garner CCAC Player of the Week recognition. He hit .412, produced an on-base percentage of .522 and slugged at a .941 clip.
The sophomore utility player totaled seven hits over six games with five going for extra bases, authoring three doubles and two triples. That led to him driving in eight runs. He also coaxed five walks and stole four bases.
Violett registered hits in each of the six contests and delivered three multi-RBI games. His best game of the week was a two-hit, three-RBI effort in a 16-4 setback to Trinity Christian College on Friday. He recorded both one of his doubles and home runs on that day.
Saint Xavier is 32-17 overall and finished league play with a 21-11 mark, good enough for a third-place finish.
