ONU's Edwards, USF's Moore Use Double-Doubles To Warrant Men's Basketball Weekly Honors

CHICAGO --- Olivet Nazarene University's Eli Edwards (Kokomo, Ind.) and University of St. Francis' Damarcies Moore (Chicago, Ill.) each delivered a double-double during the seven-day period ending Feb. 8 in returning to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball weekly awards stand, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Edwards notched his sixth CCAC Offensive Player of the Week award by producing a career-high 35 points and averaging 28.5 points per game over a pair of contests, while shooting 73 percent from the field (27-of-37).  His other averages included 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.0 steals per contest.

The senior forward/center's double-double came on Saturday in a 90-67 triumph over Holy Cross College when he recorded 22 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three blocks.  Three nights prior, he put up his 35 points on 17-of-22 shooting (.773) to go along with five rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block in a 101-86 victory opposite Calumet College of St. Joseph last Wednesday.

With the two wins, Olivet Nazarene moved into a three-way tie for first place in the league.  The Tigers are 12-4 against CCAC foes and 16-8 overall.

Moore, meanwhile, was led to the awards stand as the CCAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time, guided by his 9.0 defensive boards per game.  He finished with 21 total rebounds in St. Francis' two wins, while also having two assists, one steal and an average of 9.0 points per game.

Moore collected his double-double in a first-place showdown with Governors State University on Saturday.  In the 86-70 USF victory, the senior forward registered 12 rebounds (ten defensive), 11 points two assists and one steal.

Moore added another nine boards (eight defensive) and seven points in an 89-52 road victory opposite St. Ambrose University on Wednesday.

Winners of six straight contests, the Saints moved into a tie for first place in the CCAC standings with both Olivet Nazarene and Governors State.  All three are 12-4 in league play, while USF is 17-6 overall.
