Men's Volleyball Weekly Honors Presented To SAU's Bos, ONU's Van Laten, SXU's Daniels

CHICAGO --- St. Ambrose University's Michael Bos (Chicago, Ill.), Olivet Nazarene University's Tyler Van Laten (Elmhurst, Ill.) and Saint Xavier University's Cameron Daniels (Omaha, Neb.) led each of their respective teams to 2-0 league marks in matches they played in last week, netting the trio Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly men's volleyball recognition on Tuesday when the league office announced it.

Bos was honored as the CCAC Attacker of the Week after hitting at a .579 clip and averaging 3.25 kills per set over his two matches.  He also totaled four blocks among his six sets played.

The junior middle hitter was unstoppable last Tuesday night when he recorded 22 kills against only two errors in 29 chances (.690 pct.) to go along with three blocks in a five-set decision over Judson University.

St. Ambrose is 18-9 overall and 7-4 in CCAC play.

Van Laten recorded no less than 18 digs in each of his two matches last week to gain CCAC Defender of the Week accolades.  He averaged 6.0 digs per set in a three-set win versus Judson on Thursday and 5.29 for the week as a whole. 

The sophomore defensive specialist followed Thursday's performance up with 19 digs over four sets in a 3-1 win versus Viterbo University on Saturday.

Olivet Nazarene got over the .500 mark in the league at 6-5 and is 12-13 overall after the 2-1 week.

Daniels notched his seventh CCAC Setter of the Week honor via a 10.67 assists-per-set average over his two matches played.  He also produced 10 digs, three service aces and two blocks.

The junior totaled 33 assists and seven digs in a three-set nod over Olivet Nazarene last Tuesday.  That was followed by another 31 assists in a straight-set decision over Governors State University on Thursday.

SXU remained perfect in the league at 11-0 and the NAIA No. 2-ranked Cougars are 22-3 overall.
