No. 3 ONU, No. 4 SAU Advance To Men's Volleyball Semifinal Round

CHICAGO --- Higher seeds Olivet Nazarene University and St. Ambrose University each advanced to the semifinal round of the 2026 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Tournament after securing opening-round wins on Tuesday night at home.

No. 4 St. Ambrose had the easier go-of-it with its 25-18, 25-18, 21-25, 25-19 victory over No. 5 Viterbo University.  No. 3 Olivet Nazarene, meanwhile, opened up a 2-0 lead against No. 6 Judson University before scratching out a 25-19, 25-20, 22-25, 22-25, 15-8 win.

The victories set up the semifinal round with No. 2 Governors State University (18-10) hosting Olivet Nazarene (16-13) and St. Ambrose (20-11) traveling to Chicago to face top-seeded Saint Xavier University (26-3) on Thursday.  Both matches begin at 6 pm.

Thursday's winners then square off for the tournament title on Saturday at 1 pm at the site of the highest remaining seed.

Recapping Tuesday:

Olivet Nazarene def. Judson 25-19, 25-20, 22-25, 22-25, 15-8
 Olivet Nazarene used a .615 hitting attack (8 kills, 0 errors, 13 chances) in the final set to stave off Judson.  The Tigers also produced nine service aces, including four from Cameron Johnston.  Cade Ooms led the ONU offense with his 13 kills to go along with nine digs.  Nic VanOort added another 11 kills.  Will Byers ran the offense to the tune of 38 assists, while providing 10 digs.  Mason Snodgrass was the top man for Judson with his 13 kills and three blocks.

St. Ambrose def. Viterbo 25-18, 25-18, 21-25, 25-19
 St. Ambrose also authored nine services aces to advance, with six coming from Anthony Anderson (35 assists).  Pedro Zang and Michael Bos delivered 17 and 11 kills, respectively.  Charlie Flynn handled defensive matters with his five blocks.  Ethan Davis registered a double-double (12 kills, 10 digs) for Viterbo.

• Match #3: No. 3 Olivet Nazarene (16-13) at No. 2 Governors State (18-10) --- 6 pm CT
• Match #4: No. 4 St. Ambrose (20-11) at No. 1 Saint Xavier (26-3) --- 6 pm CT

Saturday, April 18 – Championship (at site of highest remaining seed)
