No. 1 SXU, No. 6 IUSB Only Remaining Unbeatens In Softball Tournament
CROWN POINT, Ind. --- Top-seeded Saint Xavier University and surprise No. 6 seed Indiana University South Bend came out as the only two teams unscathed after the first two rounds of the 2026 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Tournament on Wednesday at the Crown Point Sports Complex.
SXU (39-12) posted a pair of eight-run wins, while Indiana South Bend (16-28) upset No. 3 seed St. Ambrose University 7-5 before handling No. 7 Trinity Christian College 9-3.
Earning a pair of split decisions on Wednesday were No. 2 University of St. Francis (35-15), No. 3 Olivet Nazarene University (29-20), No. 7 Trinity Christian (16-29) ad No. 8 Calumet College of St. Joseph (12-30).
Eliminated from the eight-team field were St. Ambrose and No. 5 Viterbo University.
As for Thursday's matchups, one team will be left standing on the undefeated side of the ledger after Saint Xavier and Indiana South Bend match up at 3 pm. In a pair of elimination games at the same time, St. Francis meets Olivet Nazarene and Trinity Christian squares off against Calumet St. Joseph. A pair of games follow at 5:30 pm.
