Saint Xavier Tops List of Women's Basketball All-Academic Team Selections

CHICAGO --- Saint Xavier University came away with the most Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball All-Academic Team recipients, edging out Olivet Nazarene University, St. Ambrose University and University of St. Francis for the top spot when the league office made the announcement on Thursday morning.

The Cougar program totaled nine awardees, with Olivet Nazarene, St. Ambrose and St. Francis each at eight.  Judson University and Viterbo University were next in line with seven honorees each.

Others making the honor roll included four individuals from Indiana University South Bend and three each from Governors State University, Holy Cross College, Indiana University Northwest and Mount Mary University.  Calumet College of St. Joseph rounded out the list of 64 total recipients with its one selection.

Of those named to the squad, nearly half made the team one year ago.  Eighteen individuals were repeat selections with another 12 meeting the criteria for the third year in a row.  There were also four individuals that boasted perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point averages.  

To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must have been enrolled at her respective CCAC school for a minimum of one academic year, have completed at least 30 semester hours and boast no less than a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.
