ONU's Ice Highlights Women's Golf Postseason Honor Roll

CHICAGO --- One year after being named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf Freshman of the Year, Olivet Nazarene University's Taylor Ice (Salem, Ill.) garnered the league's top honor when she was named the Player of the Year on Thursday morning.  The award was one of 13 presented by the league when it announced its postseason honor roll.

Olivet Nazarene, which won the league crown last month, collected a conference-high six awards on Thursday.  Judson University followed closely behind with five, while Holy Cross College secured two awards.

Ice completed the season with eight Top 5 finishes during the campaign, including earning medalist honors at both ONU's own Bill Johnson Memorial in the fall and the Hannibal-La Grange Spring Invitational.  She also garnered runner-up distinction at the Clarke University (Iowa) Fall Classic, the Island Pointe Intercollegiate and the Conference Clash at Rend Lake.

For the season, Ice averaged an 81.1, including a personal-best low round of 76.

Ice was also one of five players named to the all-conference first team.  She was joined by teammates Mya Jones (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Lizzie Howard (Dunlap, Ill.), who made the first team each of her four years in the league.  The rest of the contingent was comprised of Judson's Isabell Burnett (Elgin, Ill.), and Holy Cross' Bianca Huizar (Winamac, Ind.).

Burnett claimed the other top individual honor, being recognized as the Newcomer of the Year.  She averaged an 81.3 on the season over 11 events with three of those producing medalist finishes.  She also placed second one time.

A CCAC Player of the Week four times, she was the medalist at last month's CCAC Championships and advanced to the NAIA National Championships as an individual.

On the coaching front, Judson's John Wedell was recognized as the CCAC Coach of the Year.
