Savvidou, Holy Cross Headline Women's Tennis Honor Roll
CHICAGO ---Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament champion Holy Cross College claimed ten of the 16 awards presented, including the top three individual accolades, when the league office announced its 2025 women's tennis postseason honor roll on Wednesday morning.
Topping the list for the second straight year was Victoria Savvidou (Limassol, Cyprus), who was again named the CCAC Player of the Year. The junior has compiled a 5-3 singles mark as well as a 6-3 doubles record this season playing at the No. 1 position.
Saviddou also finds her name among the top players nationally, ranking No. 29 as a singles player and No. 9 on the doubles side by the International Tennis Association (ITA). She pairs with Leah Gonzales-Edwards (London, England) in doubles competition.
Saviddou was one of two three-peat selections on the six-member all-conference singles team. The other was University of St. Francis' Anna Bintsarovskaya (Chachkov, Belarus).
The rest of the singles squad was made up of Holy Cross' Jamison Geofferys (Anderson, Ind.) and Sofia Rocha (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Olivet Nazarene University's Chieh-Yu Chen (New Taipei City, Taiwan) and Natasha Nieto (Caracas, Venezuela).
On the doubles side, four of the six slots went to Holy Cross players, including three-time recipient Saviddou and two-time selection Nicole Martinez (Villavicencis, Colombia). Saviddou was paired with Gonzales-Edwards, while Martinez teamed up with Rocha.
Nieto and teammate Rafaela Luna (Lima, Peru) made up the other doubles team.
Rocha joined Saviddou as a recipient of three league awards this season when she was also recognized as the CCAC Freshman of the Year. She has gone 5-2 between the Nos. 3-5 singles spots and a perfect 9-0 at No. 2 doubles to warrant No. 42 and 10 ITA rankings, respectively.
Holy Cross head coach Eric Mahone made for the clean sweep of individual awards for the Saints' program when he was named the CCAC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive spring. He has the Saints at 9-5 on the season and ranked No. 15 nationally heading into the second round of play at the NAIA National Championships.
The final award, the CCAC Champions of Character Team, went to St. Ambrose University for the second year in a row.
