Women's Tennis Weekly Accolades Go To SAU's Meystrik

CHICAGO --- A pair of wins leading to a team victory for St. Ambrose University has earned Catherine Meystrik (Jefferson City, Mo.) Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week accord, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Meystrik, along with teammate Julia Turek, provided SAU with its only victory in doubles play, a 6-3 win at No. 2, in a match versus Wartburg College (Iowa) last Wednesday.

Needing four wins in singles play to secure the team victory after losing the team doubles point, the freshman battled back from being down a set to win 5-7, 6-2, 10-5 in a third-set tie-breaker.  That enabled the Fighting Bees to defeat Wartburg 4-3.

The win pushed St. Ambrose's overall record over the .500 mark at 7-6.
