Conference Champion ONU Tops List of Women's Track & Field All-Academic Selections
CHICAGO --- Of the seven schools boasting members on the 2023-24 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Track & Field All-Academic Team, five reached double-figure totals when the league office announced the squad on Tuesday morning.
Capturing the most honorees was conference champion Olivet Nazarene University with a total of 26. St. Ambrose University garnered the runner-up spot with 17 selections, while Saint Xavier University and University of St. Francis shared the third spot with 12 recipients each.
Also represented were four student-athletes from Roosevelt University and another two from Judson University.
Five individuals turned in perfect report cards. They were Heidi Heldt, Amelia Murray and Kathryn Swanson from Olivet Nazarene, Katherine DeHaan of Saint Xavier and Ryleigh Warden of St. Ambrose.
Just under half of those named (41 of 83) were on the team one year ago broken down into 23 repeat selections, 16 named for the third consecutive year and two earning the accolades for the fourth year in a row.
To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must have been enrolled at her respective CCAC school for a minimum of one academic year, have completed at least 30 semester hours and boast no less than a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.
