ONU's Burdine, VU's Wingo Honored For Weekly Women's T&F Efforts
CHICAGO --- A pair of record-setting efforts from Viterbo University's Olivia Wingo (Woodruff, Wis.) and a first-place finish by Olivet Nazarene University's Carsyn Burdine (Indianapolis, Ind.) have resulted in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's outdoor track & field weekly honors for the pair of competitors. The league office announced the award winners on Wednesday afternoon.
Wingo collected her third straight CCAC Field Athlete of the Week recognition after setting new school records in both the pole vault and high jump events at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Titan Invite on Saturday. She also claimed the top marks in both meets.
Among 16 individuals in the pole vault, the senior delivered a mark of 4.02 meters (13 feet, 2.25 inches) to hit the NAIA "A" standard. In the high jump, she was first among 10 competitors with a leap of 1.61 meters (5 feet, 3.25 inches).
Burdine used a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash at ONU's own Tiger Open on Saturday to net CCAC Track Athlete of the Week honors. Her NAIA "B" standard time of 24.44 seconds out-paced 27 other challengers.
The junior also captured runner-up accord as part of Olivet's 4x100-meter relay team, which registered a time of 47.59 seconds.
