VU's Wingo Stays Perfect, SXU's Mathis Sets Record En Route To Women's Outdoor T&F Weekly Accolades
CHICAGO --- Viterbo University's Olivia Wingo (Woodruff, Wis.) kept her perfect streak intact, while Saint Xavier University's Olivia Mathis (Akron, Ohio) used a new school record to gain Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's outdoor track & field weekly accolades, the league office announced on Wednesday morning.
Wingo used another NAIA "A" standard effort in the pole vault (3.92 meters / 12 feet, 10.25 inches) to win CCAC Field Athlete of the Week honors for the fourth straight time. The senior captured the event at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge on Saturday, outdueling 25 other competitors.
Mathis was recognized as the CCAC Track Athlete of the Week after hitting the "B" mark in the 800-meter race. The senior finished fourth out of nine individuals at the Hillsdale College (Mich.) Gina Relays on Friday with a time of 2:12.08.
